I was there, enjoyed it, and was wondering how we could improve it. One negative was how slow it was. I actually took a shower and didn`t fall behind at all! I also think that we were too polite (imagine a Canadian saying that 1080 was the host and everything was addressed to him. It might have sped things up if several conversations were being held at once between specific people. With our own name being in red we could see when we are being addressed rather quickly. It would also take pressure off of the host. Maybe an informal chat is the way to get us used to it. Any thoughts on this are welcome.

One thing I thought would be nice is to be able to go to the beginning of the chat even though I showed up late.(chores only get done so fast) That way a person could be caught up and not ask questions that had already been answered. Doesn't mean the transcript has to be saved for all time, but at least for the duration of the chat session.

I also enjoyed and appreciated everyones efforts. I think its hard to address a subject such as "Coyote Trapping". I wonder if it wouldn't help to address a certain part of coyote trapping, such as locating coyotes, establishing bait stations, luring, sets, etc... Kind of like when Steve said next time maybe Rally could talk about beaver snaring, rather than such a broad topic like beaver trapping. Maybe if some of the questions people wanted to ask were sent ahead of time, so the host would be able to address these questions specifically and not the ones he doesn't wish too. I don't know, just some thoughts. I thought it was good and look forward to any in the future.

redo java rdfx- I had java but my version wouldnlt support it, so uninstalled and reinstalled, and it worked-
I'm open to any suggestions for improving chat- the chat we have is a basic free version- not many options- but to have options is big $$$

Cheap trapper that I am, I would not spend a nickel.
I believe that the only problem is between the chair and the key board. We are not chatters - yet.
When I see my kids going they are all typing up a storm but they are not reading much. They are following a conversation with one person while a group is typing. It's like the hundred conversations that occur in a party but you listen just to one. Yes, you can eavesdrop but if you do you're going to miss parts. Unless you eavesdrop only on a couple of people.
For example: last night someone asked 1080 how he liked to make his bait stations. Poor 1080 was being yanked in several directions and I do not remember him answering directly. However, another experienced trapper might have responded. If someone had, a "conversation" might have developed.
Second example: 1080 started the evening by making the statement that animals cannot reason. I'm not too sure I agree with that but I let it go pretty quick because people were logging on to hear 1080 and not me and 1080 discussing animal reasoning. However, it might have been pretty interesting. Steve seemed to by on my side of the fence. If the discussion had occurred with anyone other than the host I might have pursued it. The others could have opted out of eavesdropping by ignoring our names when we showed up on screen. If someone else would have joined the conversation we would have noticed IF they addressed us by name (our names would have shown up in rain and we would have seen that we were being addressed.) I know that it would have been interesting - for me! But I'm not so sure it would have been interesting for someone wanting to learn about coyotes.
Perhaps our next chat could be of a campfire type. A date and time is picked and there is no host. People show and we shoot the breeze with whoever about whatever for an hour. That way we would know more what we are doing when the good stuff comes up.

Talk shoe would be good, there are many available. You would need a microphone to talk but most allow you to chat with text also.

I think both types would work out good musher- chats hosted, and then unhosted chats by just picking a subject-
our next hosted chat wil lbe LB on predator calling, next thursday (may 5th)
but anyone that wants a subject chat- just pick a night and subject-
I agree that "animal reasoning" would be a good topic indeed.

I agree "animal reasoning would be a great topic but I too don't believe in their ability to reason or free think as humans, repetition is a major factor to wild animals, the easiest of any speices are the young and taking advantage of the older more seasoned critters durring key times of the year that make them more vunrable. The ability to reason would make them much harder to call, trap, snare and in general kill.
A good chat topic for sure!
