I have only trapped beaver with 330's and I'm looking at foothold traps. Have seen plenty said about MB's and cdr's but have not seen any opiniond on the montanas and bridges. Prices are more affordable than the others but how good do they work on beaver. Also how are 280's on beavers.

I have never used the Montana #5s but I have caught a fair amount in the bridgers (longs and coils). I think they are a great trap for the money. They have stout springs and a decent pan set-up (could be better, could be worse). I put a diferrent drowning lock on mine and shorten the chain a few inches and that is about it. I have some that are regular jaw and some that are laminated and offset. All of them kill beaver.
