Caught 10 today! A record for me. Had a couple plugged. Way better than the Death Klutch! Some of the mounds I can't find the tunnel? I poke and poke but no luck. I try for a couple of minutes then just move to a different mound. Got my first gopher job today also a farmer saw me checking traps and asked if I was any good. Of course ! Went and set some in his hay field tonight. On the way back to the truck My son noticed one of the traps was sprung, big gopher in less than a hour. Thanks for all the help Steve.

Glad to help............... Some mounds you just cannot find the tunnel on. If its the only fresh mound, you can eventually, in most cases find it- you can probe on the sides, trying to intercept the tunnel, or can try every different direction, sometimes the tunnells have odd turns and twists. here is a tip- most mounds, by the same gopher, have the same characteristics. the same width, the same distiance down, the same turns. so that can help- if you know other mounds by same gopher are odd and hard to find, other mounds by the same will be found same way. and while it's not a must, I get in the habit of, even on obvious tunnel mouth indications, to rake back the dirt from the indication, so that part of the mound is bare- that way I can see the actually bare circle under the mound and I know 100% that thats the end of the tunnell. considering we had 5 inches of snow on top of a 50% snow pack 2 weeks ago thurday- to where we are at today- wow! we got all the mulch off the flower beds, raked lawn and hauled to brush dump, things put away from winter, reorganised the truck for gophers, got all stakes freshly painted, all traps ready to go and got the bikes firedup and out a little yesterday- 1st kick on mine- I've had it start in spring on 2-3 kick. Spring is here- FINALLY still snow on the hills and in drifts, but the hay fields are bare, and we have had a week of dry so we are ready to go- sunday if it doesn't rain, otherwise tues.
