Calvin I don't let a traps strength concern me, in fact I'm more careful with them and have less incidence with them than other traps for sure. Ever have a sterling go shut on one finger when it is colder out? Not a fun feeling at all I can assure you, but I use them for various reasons and they are all "pros" to me No con's.
All about efficiency for many and trap choices.

Only took 21 beaver this winter. All were under ice using snares except for 2 that came from conibears. The Belisle 330 held the one by the foot, and my one and only MB 1216 held the 50 pounder by the tail. Doubt I'd of had either with a lesser styled trap.

belilses are tough but they aint gonna put you in a cast unless the spring gets you at the corner that can happen on any coni theres to much flex in the frame for to much damage to you . I'll tell you what those new regular dukes worry me more than any of them i use ,they are stupid strong. they are the only traps Iown that i use a setter for ,

You may have a point there, Bigfoot but I/m not risking it with the zero clearance traps and my trapping season.
I had a regular Duke hit me across the thumb knuckle last season (or course the worst possible spot). Through gloves it hurt for a week or more and was hard to bend the next day. That been a magnum (zero clearance) trap. I "suspect" it would have been more permanent....or not so temporary, anyhow
I/m not chancing it for once and awhile beaver by the tail. If I need him that bad, I/ll learn how to set the #330 properly or use footholds.

I will say that even with the belisel no slip spring holder, I still use a safety on the jaws. i've seen the belisles spring and for one reason or the other miss the holder and one spring go all the way open. The belisles are powerful, but that MB 1216 is way past the belisles in power.
