Just thought I might add my thoughts on the "why" of using this stuff. For me, in my area, some of the state and federal wildlife areas require non-toxic shot, and shotguns only. So for those areas, this stuff is about the best you are going to get.

LB, right out of the box I paid respect to you, and made note that you were a "well respected reloader/shooter"......
You left yourself wide open to a little joking..........with your comment "YOU used up most of a case on opening day of dove season"......let's see a well respected shooter........shots most of a case of shells for a daily limit of doves.......I still think that's funny........belittle you or anyone....never, not for a moment, that's simply not me............laugh and joke sure..........I've had my chops busted over and over........hunting with a buddy and miss a turkey at 20 yards.....I've paid dearly, publically........belittled I don't think so........the end of many jokes YEP........a guy can kill XYZ long beards.........but miss one and the jokes still alive 3 years later......... LB, we simply disagree on a few things, I like Swarovski you thinks it's way over priced or had some issue with it. I like HeviShot and the new and improved shot.........you like lead, fair enough. As to EnvironMetal selling to Remington........that was the buzz ??years ago, I never looked any deeper.

From memory this heavy shot is based around tungsten.
We know the so called hazards of lead, well the hazrds are real under specific circumstances.
But what about tungsten. Not used much, very little researcg into hazards but is a probable reproductive toxicant. All tungsten compounds can be said to be highly dangerous.
Man I can't wait until the bring out depleted uranium for heavy shot.

BB, I don't remember a conflict concerning Swarvoski? I'm a fan, actually. But they are overpriced.
Anyway, these doves are a little more of a challenge than some folks realize. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
Dead Coyote; we shall see what the shouting is all about. But, for my application, my attitude is.... if it ain't broke? And, in my defense, I never missed a coyote with a shotgun.
I used to use Federal 3" 2 ounce BBs, years ago. I had a few coyotes come back from the dead after a couple minutes as I continued the stand. No such problem with #4 buck.
Anyway, I'm not offended, perhaps the "belittle" comment was uncalled for? LB

LB what I meant by cheapies was low quailty ammo. There is a big differance in super x and the supreme, look at the parts used and performance. There is also a differance in loading up cheap bullets and using ones meant to have a high BC and retain itself after impact, also weight issues with cheaper bullets etc.
I didn't mean becuase someone relaods they are cheap by any means. I would love to try out the new MSX Barnes but they haveyet to make them in a 25 cal or 22 cal bullet. These have a tungston base surrounded by copper and a poly tip, meant for long range shoot to have the wallop to bring things down. Cost about 1.00 per bullet, not cheap but would like to smoke a deer or antelope at 500 yrds with them to see what they would do performance wise. I also would like to see what they would do to coyotes that hang past 400yrds. But the Nosler bal tip is a tough bullet to beat for cost and performance in my book.
If tungston was cheaper they would not charge what they do, look at steel shot and it's cost in the early 80's compaired to today! I'm sure in time if they want a major chunk of the ammo market they will devise away to bring cost down or sell to a smaller marketshare, that is the options they have.

Well, we sure agree on this: "But the Nosler bal tip is a tough bullet to beat for cost and performance in my book."
I use it in my 25'06 Ackley. 100 grain. Wonderful performance on distant coyotes.
Good hunting. LB
