Nuisance Cage trapping is more fun, But what do you do after the catch? should you release it with your catch stick, or take it home and Just practise your Taxidermy work on it? ;D Yancy

I would be very interested in seeing ANY pictures of cage trap "sets" and how each of you present and use your bait, lure and urine with cage traps. All input related to this is appreciated!

Would it be advantageous to have a slot or flap big enough in the front door of the cage to stick your ketch pole through for dispatch? All 6 or 7 that I have caught in a cage I shot w\ 22. Not trying to brag but thats 6 or 7 in the last three years. Think I might write a book. Bought a Ketch all pole and will try the choke method this year. Not sure I'ts for me.

I shoot all mine 'cause time is money for me. I can shoot, reset, re-lure and be back at the truck, onto my next trap by the time you can kill one with a catch stick. (The tennis shoe's help in this department also) I build my doors just like you see in the pics, poles will fit nicely inside if you choose that method.

It's not a problem for me, I don't catch 20 cats a day like you do. I also like not having to clean all the blood out of the fur.

I don't like blood at the catch site or on the fur. I can grab a catch pole and place it on the little fellers head in about the same amount of time it takes me to get a gun and shoot the cat and then put the gun up. Where it really saves time is when I'm skinning, fleshing and stretching. No blood on the hide, saves clean up time on the fur.

Gettin away from the blood is why I want to try the pole. At the end of the season I have 30, 40 or more hides in the freezer I took with rifles and shotguns and are generally very bloody. Would be nice to have some with no blood. I am not sure a Ketch pole through the bars will be easy to manipulate as the loop hangs on the same axis or" in line" with the pole and the cat will be facing you. I guess I could tip the cage up on end and work through the open door like Reid.

they aren`t that hard to get a loop on, in fact almost act paralysed till you tighten down, then go nuts, so hold on for dear life. they go down quick, probably less than a minute. quicker than trying to wash or brush blood out. you`ll never go back to shooting, I`m sure of it.
