Steve.. I usually gang set for coon and on a few setups I get one coon on a drag that gets into the other set be it staked or on a drag..mostly its the ones on bigger log type drags...the grappled ones dont seem to do it too often.... ;D
Not sure if it really poses a problem although you may miss the "other one" that was with your catch...

fish sticks, bait smeared on rocks etc, are a quick and easy set, but I too have found them lacking to a pocket set. Works pretty good if lots of hungry coon around, when they get thin I see them ignore them a lot more. They seem to burn out for me a lot faster than a pocket set. I will resort to them when i dont have a bank to work with. I have much better luck with a big handful of bait sandwiched between 2 flat rock than the palin ole fishstick set. Another real good one and my favorite is a mud mound 6" out of the water with clamshells stuck all over it and bait scattered amounst the shells. Used to be known as "rk's secret clamshell set" but i guess now it aint a secret any more is it. ;D.
another good flat bank or sandbar set is if handy, drag a big 10"-12" dia drift log to edge of water and lay parallel to waters edge, stick a soup can or pvc into bank at a 45 angle next to log on water side, plant trap and guide it with a few sticks. If log is big enough put a set at each end of it. A big log at edge of water on a sandbar is great eye appeal that just about every coon crossing sandbar has to check out. I always wanted to write an article on flat bank coon sets but never got around to it. Not much of an organized writer except for rambling on incorherantly on a few trapping sites. Dang near a whole book could be written about flat bank trapping.

I have one place where the only way to set the place up other than to blind set the trails, is to use the stupid set on the huge chunk of sod that I moved into place to try to get someplace to set upon. Worked great in that spot. Especially when you concider that there was not much other choice and I didn't have any pvc with.
