Another reason I dislike the lions. Supposed to get a couple inches of snow tonight. Maybe go kill these suckers tomorrow. I'd just set a trap 100 yards from this kill before I found it. Hope I don't catch the SOB before we can get some dogs on it. May be more than one, all meat was ate except front quarter. Fresh killed today. I can see where they killed it and the blood is still red on the grass. They drug it abour 30 yards before covering it up.

Glad you found one Joel. Well I'm not really glad. I know they kill them, I've seen where they've been down low hunting antelope. I've just never stumbled onto a kill yet.

I've got the head and horns from a lion killed antelope hanging in my shop, along with sick and decrepid deer heads/antlers; all killed by lions. Sorry, Steve, I forgot to point them out to you, when you were here. Funny thing, predators really don't like a bad piece of meat any more than we do. They always go for the fit and strong, contrary to the opinion of the bunny huggers and so called scientists.

Yeah that was a nice young buck.
About 5 miles from my house where my wife has 50 head of sheep.
I suppose it's only a matter of time before they show up here.

I've seen 8 sets of lion tracks so far this year. Wonder if I'll beat last years 37 sets of tracks? Probably not since I'm not out as much this year, but who knows. What a change from the 80's when seeing one set was something to get excited about! And guys wonder where the deer went? I visited with two deer hunters yesterday. Even they were talking about the lion tracks they have seen every place they have been. Bill, they told me several years ago they found 6 dead deer on one ridge near you. All lion kills. That tops the 4 bucks I heard a lion hunter found all killed by the same lion they were following with hounds. Again, not even fed on,, killed because they were there.

Tracy you wanna drive this far? I told another buddy about this one but he won't go till Saturday.
He just killed one about a mile or two from this one and there were four running together.
I may use my two tags to kill the young ones just to thin them out a bit.
If you want to come this far there are lots of lions. I'll call you first next time.
I've seen four tracks in four trips around my traps.

I don't want to drive that far, but Hollywood hasn't come through on his end of the Washoe-to-Clark-County-Lion-Transplant Program.
I should have some free time the week between Christmas and New years. Not going to work and only have one line of traps to run, so if you were to get good weather conditions, I'd take a run up there.

If we get the right kind of weather and the lions move we'll find you tracks. Lots of places the lions traditionally cross and use year after year. I saw 5 different sets of lion tracks in one day last year. The area where Joel is now has some big toms. One crossed the flats going from range to range and passed right through where I unloaded my quad. Impressive feet!

That's what we ought to do, each get two tags and fill a truck full of them like the guys in the midwest do with coons.
Six or eight would fill up about as much space as 50 coons. lol!!
I've got a guest house, come and stay. Dwaine and Corey can come and use my tags. lol!!
Hope your dogs are fast, this lion caught an antelope.

I`ve had 2 antelopes lion killed and covered like that . I mean the antelopes were in 1 and 1/2 softcatches! most jerk out easy but it will hold a few if they get caught just right. bows the heck out of them. had another killed in a softie by a wolf ,and a hindquarter ate into. I think I jumped him off but didn`t see him bailing out. I threw the dead antelope to the side and reset ,and came back a few hrs later on the way back thru and figured better have a peek. that wolf came back and carried the whole antelope about 200 yards away and ate more. not dragged, carried. a day later the whole thing was all gone, no bones or hair or even a gut pouch. I guess he plumb carried it all the way off. got tired of me snooping on his dinner every day I guess. I heard he might have met an untimely fate that winter after I left. or so the rumor went.

I've found fresh wolf eaten deer on the snow. There was no blood - only hair left. I guess the pack eats it off the snow.
