I've watched every Gold fever and prosecting America show that was ever made by Tom & Parry Massey. and was a member of The Gold Prospectors Association of America Steve. and I haven't ever seen them use anything like that to work or collect material. that must have been used on a very rare occasion. LOL. I'll have to say Steve you've got a Good one gone here.

LOL- it is iron- but scrap? Hardly.
Its the last surviving piece of a mining camp in the Black Hills. It was removed literally hours before the whole site was reduced to rubble by construction crews building a new road.
Its original use, and what the miners recycled it to, where common in the camps of the Black Hills. Few examples still exist as original - but I know several places in which they do, and are still functional.
