Goat does taste good, but they don't need to worry about it as long as they carry the weight when called on. The calf is much more intelligent and easy going than a real calf...

Nice buck. What state are you hunting?
Never thought about putting a pack on a goat. They are stout little animals.

Pretty country out there. I've been out to Yellowstone Park, spent a little time in the mountains south and east. Big country, lots to see and do.
Went to the town south of Yellowstone, forget it's name. Down around the ski resorts. Lots of elk. Just pretty country.
I'd like to come out one time, just to ride the snowmobile trails, out in the back country. Nice folks too.

The town you're thinking of was probably Jackson. It is a tourist trap, but worth a walk around down town, if you haven't. Beautiful country. That mountain range to the south and east is crawling with grizzlies now, so pepper spray and a firearm are in order for a hike. They do a lot of snowmobile tours up there on Togwotee pass and some bring their sleds and just cover the country. For a more scenic ride, the Grays river in my country is a great place to snowmobile. I am about 150 miles south of Yellowstone and tend to hunt less than 10 miles from the house for both deer and elk. Antelope, I travel a couple of hours for.

Yes, it was Jackson. First time I went out through Riverton, across Rt. 26, I think. Trapped with Tom Krause for a week or so?, I had a ball.
Stayed in Dubois, a couple nights, just out sight seeing, riding the back roads. Had a helluva snow and they closed the roads into Yellowstone, had to turn around at the southern gate.
Snooped around in Jackson, the reservations and museums when I had free time. 2nd best vacation I've ever had, think that was back in 04. The next summer the family and I toured Yellowstone, price wise, it wasn't that bad. Lots of history out west!
