wow Pam- spot on (Prince of Darkness)
TC- you continue to read something, then go to the internet to try to find something to rebute it, can't, so copy and paste lots of stuff- but sadly, nothing relates to my original statement-
which is: the federal govt is smaller under Obama, than it was under bush- THAT IS A FACT

Unfortunately perception becomes reality in many cases. Many complain constantly about the "liberal" media yet they hold views and opinions directly related to the 30 second sound bytes that many of us work hard to avoid or disregard.

Tman Obama isn't in charge of local and state employees what is the numbers of federal employees just federal employees.
I have no problem paying for wars if needed, obviously either does Obama as he sends in more troops to help with the ISIS issue..........

www.gao.gov/products/GAO-14-215 attached is a link that may help resolve the issue of more or less federal workers As you can see 94% of the increase is military , homeland security or VA which needs to service vets. I also did not find out how the breakdown for each year from 2004-2012. If you like spending money on wars and putting up immigration laws the fact that we have 250K more employed in those area must make you very elated. Bryce

I have no problems with immigration laws, we make many people conform and go through a process to become a US citizen while others who seek in get refuge under the current system, that is wrong and is against or laws and rules. Just because they find a way to vote and we are afraid of what might happen? Either they become US citizens by doing what others have done or ship them back and create a better boarder to control illegal entry and by doing so granting immunity. Liken it to the pot deal, states legalize it even though the federal govt says still illegal. So they have to all take payment in cash because of other laws, either the fed govt enforces fed law or drop the law, we call it crap or get off the pot. The fed call it burying their heads I the sand. It would like one state to lower the drinking age to 19 the Feds would have no recourse because of their stance on Mary Jane as of now.

So you are in a sense advocating that citizenship in the USA should be a state's rights issue? Boy I hope I am reading that incorrectly.

Yep Bryce your reading that wrong, US citizenship is a federal law. So is the manufacturing and selling of illegal drugs neither are being enforced by our federal government in many areas. Either change the laws or enforce the laws those are the two choices playing the middle ground is no good.
So if the federal govt turns a blind eye to states like Colorado, Cali, Washington and illegals working without proper paper work, then I say if some states want to change the drinking age back to 18-19 for more tax revenue go for it as the federal govt can't strong arm any state on that issue like they did years back because alcohol is a legal product and if a state ballot says drinking at 18-19 is now legal what can the federal govt do about it.......... They are just trying to raise more taxation........

There are undocumented workers in every state. I don't like the idea of each state limiting or expanding their thoughts on what constitutes US citizenship to meet their needs or dislikes. We need to elect persons to do that federally be it not good for you politically or not. If the Congress won't do it then the WH can through executive order can and if that is a modified amnesty program instead of a wall first and then sifting and winnowing that to me is better than states making biased decisions on their own. When it comes to citizenship as a US citizenship I don't like the idea of states establishing their idea of "good Americans" that could wind up with many tentacles reaching a whole host of our citizens to be or current citizens.

states can make the drinking age 12, if they want
states can have the speed limits at 100, if they want
states can not have seat belt laws, if they want
but oddly (and very oddly its the red states that are by far the "taker" states insofar as federal monies)they prefer "free" money over states rights
SE Mn is filled with undocumented workers-
whats so frustrating- is laws the republicans backed and pushed for, to reduce and eliminate work visa and a true MIGRATING worker has lead to the increased illegal situation, and in fact could be viewed as the #1 reason for the increase.
why do those causing the problems, bitch the most they exist?

They are entitled to bitch, after all they feel they have paid for the right to do so. Self righteousness is a disease of those of us who feel we have the moral high ground. When you firmly believe that you are very, very humble you most likely are too arrogant to know you are not.

"...create a better boarder to control illegal entry ..."
How exactly do we do that with 1954 miles of border between US and Mexico.
Right now we have 700 miles of fencing costing 2.8 million a mile to construct. We have 21,000 border patrol agents (earning between $35 and $80,000 a year) using vehicles, boats, airplanes, helicopters and afoot. In some areas, the Border Patrol even employs horses, all-terrain motorcycles, bicycles, and snowmobiles. We have drones flying for a cost of $3000.00 an hour (on top of the cost of the drone itself).
Other than extending the fencing and building the equivalent to the Berlin Wall, what else should we be doing?

It is interesting that those that are saying we need to plug the leak with the wall are the ones that have procrastinated for decades on enforcing the laws so they can hire low cost labor with no non salary costs period. Hard to take them seriously until they prove they have a complete plan. Now that they are finding a very large majority of Hispanics supporting the more moderate and or left of center politics then keeping them out becomes a major issue. We had a decent shot of starting this work in the mid 90s but we dropped that ball. We may not have had the best plan from the get go but over 15 years or so there would have evolved a workable plan just as there will be with the ACA health plan.
