Musher here they give you what they call. A plastic hat LOL. If fits over your toilet and you crap in the hat the sample tubes come with plastic spoons so a little more high tech I guess than a paper plate LOL. I had 3 different test done on a bowl movement nothing came of them all negative. They can fine even trace amounts of blood from from one sample. When done throw the hat and the extra in a sack for the garbage man.
Then medium in the collection vials are poisonous and they state do not drink! LOL my question would be who the heck would try something like that in the first place LOL. I hope my outcome is like your father in law. Thanks again for the info.

"Crapping on a paper plate.........".
Hey good idea, I'll remember that. I do that test every year and they give you a piece of tissue like paper to float on the water and it invariably sinks before I get the stick into it. Good thing I have reinforced paper towels. LOL
I do believe everyone should have a physical every year. No excuse not to if they have insurance that pays for all or most of it. My last physical was around $800 without any major tests other than blood work, happily Medicare and our supplement pays for it. I feel for those that don't have insurance, which will hopefully be resolved in the next couple years.
Cheers, Pam

pam, interesting note on Medficare- so many want to increase the eligible age, yet studies show that DECREASING the age, actually would save more money in the long run

in 2003 I had a colonoscopy done because I was told its needed after age 50 . Had one pollop removed and went through hell right after . I think they punctured the intestine . Told me I had diverticulitis ( small pockets in intestine wall ) . Long story short / that area never healed and got so inflamed that it shut down the bowels . Had 12" of gut removed and two surgeries later I'm still here. so watch eating things that digest slowly ( nuts- seedy foods - corn - ect. ) good luck !!! watch what you eat & you should be o.k......

I don't think they would have let you leave with a punctured colon? At least I hope not! My gastro guy gave me some pics after no pollups and things looked good I did see my diverticuli in the photos as well. Eat fiber and as you stated stay away from slow digestive foods. Chew really well is something I have learned to do, as I was always a fast eater. My fiber intake is up and knock on wood so far so good. I do have dicyclomine pills for pain if needed for mild irritations as well. They do help to relax your intestines.
