I'd say he earned the right to kiss whoever the Hell he wants and couldn't care less about your scorn.
It's just a reality of society today, get over it, it's becoming a non issue.
Nah, it's already happened and those who did it were sober urbanites.

Who ? Beav ? Could be the only explanation for him to show such disrespect to an active duty Marine just returning from a combat deployment.

Tman I have more than a clue on mary jane. Not that I have been or am a weed smoker, but I know plenty who have and do smoke it. I don't believe in reefer madness, unless laced with PCP which many did back in the day.
I do know those that are heavy weed smokers meaning daily have less drive and ambition than those that smoke a joint ot two on the weekend. I have worked with pot smokers and can tell a differance in work ethic how much and how long they have been smoking pot in the first 48 hrs of working with them. That is where I'm at.
Our country needs more energetic people in the age calls of 18-30 again NO doubt about that and add leglaized pot smoking and I don't see how that becomes a positive for our country in a world economy?

Well if you do see it in person remember to go up to them and thank the Marine for his service, and wish them well in their forthcoming nuptials. Before you head off to your mariachi band practice.................. All of which you'll have to do if you ever hope to see the GOP in the White House again.

TC- if you worked with someone with a poor work ethic, then he would have that ethic whether smoking weed, drinking milkshakes or whatever
your conclusions on the ethics and values of those that recreationally smoke MJ, is 100% false
the reason you don't know that, is you see people all day long that are recreationally users, and you don't have an inkling that they are
the point, and the only point- is MJ far better as a recreational drug than the booze one sees flowing freely at all trappers conventions

and more on point-
If you are one that feels all stimulants or mood alterers should be made illegal including all forms of fermented grains, fruits and vegetables and all products brewed with yeast etc to induce an alcoholic content should be illegal, and you or none of your family uses such-
then you do have a opinion that is honest.
but wrong on several counts- one- how it is anyones business but their own, as to what they do with their body and life and secondly- one of the worst criminal periods in our history, was brought on by Prohibition- and prohibition didn't work out so well now did it? and prohibition was brought to you by the same folks who brought us the comstock laws
and I guess those folks are alive and well today...........
so having an opinion that all stimulants be banned is an honest one, but a naive and unpopular one. and you will have to be content controlling only your use, not others.
but to those with a Bud in their hand, or that cocktail, or those little pills for work, sex or play-
yeah OK, go have another......

BS when the recreational pot user mixes that substance with booze then where are you? And to say that doesn't happen Is just being naive. The two go hand In hand and make for a dangerous situation. And what about the hard core pot user. If you need a mood altering substance then there Is something wrong with you. I get high on life but then If your life sucks then I guess you need a crutch.

I can find some agreement with you there Beav, and I don't need any mind altering substances other than really good food (a table heaped with shrimp, cooked swimming in butter and doused with pepper in a cast iron skillet under a broiler is my heroin).
But we can't legislate it, we've been there, tried that, and it has failed, it failed with the prohibition of alcohol and it has failed with marijuana.
Time to take the obscene profit motive out of the illegal cultivation and trade and regulate and tax it just as they do with alcohol.

"is MJ far better as a recreational drug than the booze one sees flowing freely at all trappers conventions"
I remember sitting at a table having a drink with some trappers at a convention. One older guy stated he didn't drink, but would wander off now and then. I couldn't figure out how he was getting so loopy until another said he heads off to his truck to smoke a joint every now and then. DUH I shoulda known by his blood shot eyes. lol

beav- I've seen you more than once, have a beer have I not? if its just the taste you love- why not O'Douls?
everyone that drinks- is doing so to alter their mood-
relax with a cocktail before supper
have a glass of wine after supper to mellow out for the day
have a couple of beers during the game...
and on and on-
glass houses

I can't remember the last beer I drank or for that matter a mixed drink. And I hate wine. I don't drink durring the game or before or after dinner. it's just not my thing. And I have never lite up a reefer or done any other drugs. But ya I've drank a beer or two. But this Is about dope not about beer or wine or booze. Maybe It's a age thing just don't see the need.

'Generational' thing is probably more accurate, since marijuana was legal for most of U.S. history. I'd say pot was subject to the same 'demonization' as alcohol was that led to Prohibition, and the criminalization of pot. Thing is that it hasn't worked, and despite how some of us feel about not needing mind altering substances there are a Hell of a lot who do and don't care about the legality. Matter of fact I think the illegality of pot, as the 'forbidden fruit' undoubtedly makes it more desirable to some. Damn those conventions anyways huh ? When I traveled a lot to various political things I'd drink a few beers or a glass of wine because that's part of doing business in those circles. You retire to the bar in the evening, or go to whoevers hotel room had couches and easy chairs and crack open the bottles. And if there were Europeans, Australians, Canadians, or pretty much any foreign interest at any function there would be booze aplenty flowing. And clouds of cigarette smoke.
