37 find some one with a gun and try It out before you go buying one. With a nail gun you will need a compressor. I would go with a eclectic stapler. Use the longest staples you can find or what will fit the gun. A know 3 guys that put up beaver for NAFA they all use staplers. I'm still a hammer and nail person when I do beaver.

I'd second the electric stapler! I use a heavy duty duofast stapler and 3/4" staples. You can use a 1/4" spacer on the bottom of the gun so that they do not sink into the hide and are easier to pull with a rake or whatever method you chose to pull them with.
I personally just staple them in at an angle and use pliers to pull them with. It's the fastest way I've ever put up beaver.

Stapler for me. Once I stapled, I never considered nailing again. I have used a Swingline manual stapler. It works, but mine only handles 1/2 inch staples well. My electric stapler handles 9/16 staples, which are a little easier to pull.
I saw Gary Schroeder demonstrate putting a flattened kitchen fork on the front of a stapler, with the teeth pointed down. The fork serves 2 purposes. One, it holds the stapler a quarter inch or so off the board so the staple does not drive clear in. If the setting is right, you can pull staples from plywood with your fingers (although I find it easier with pliers). And second, the fork helps hold the pelt in place while you fire the staple. It works for me.

i tried the staple route and for me its a pain...if you stretch your beaver TIGHT when it dries the thin staples rip out of the leather alot easier than a nail....not saying i should pull them as tight as i do but if i can pull it and make the next size why not....now i have done the nails and staples and that seemed to work ok but its just as quick for me and my way of doing it to just nail them with my hammer and nails....

I still nail all my beaver for the same reasons walkercoonhunter stated. Staples just don't cut It on beaver but they shine on coon and otter.
