All of my own I add a circle swivel to the spring eye, and replace the chain with 3/32" 7x7 cable.

I use a length of cable and a snare swivel.
"If" you decide to do this, go ahead and thread your trap tag on the cable before installing your snare swivel...your tag will never get lost off your conibear this way.

I cut the ring off and replace with a swivel. I add one of my drowning cables to the end when 330 is in use.

I absulutly hate cable being attached permanitly to conis myself, always a tangled mess. Cut your chain and leave one link on spring. Then make a cable extension w/ a No 6 mini swivel at trap end. then connect trap chain link to mini swivel via a 1/4 or 3/16 snap link. Now you can unhook trap in seconds, roll cable extension up and keep in shoulder bag, and have slickest swiveling system right at the trap spring. Biggest advantage is no more tangled cable attached to the trap. much more manageble haveing them off trap and coiled in shoulder bag. One link of chain also makes good place to attach a trap tag.

What RK660 saying cable (or chain) getting tangled is very true, I keep my cables on my traps down to about 10" after installation.

I use a short length of 1/8" cable through the spring eye with a snare swivel on the end and a #8 brass barrel swivel inline as close to the trap as I can crimp the ferule. Extension cable sooner than late turns into a bird nest somewhere in my truck so I go with about 10-12 foot of 11 guage wire which is inspected after catches and wrapped around the jaws for transport. Tag on the cable is a great idea!

I just use an old snare or cable extension, same ones I use for footholds and snares, hooked to the end of the stock chain
