Got the first wolf of the year. A young female that could not resist Cachottier. Crappy photo. The camera battery died in the bush. Too bad as I was trying to video the wolf when the camera failed.

With the camera take off some of the pics on the card, and the automaic shut off will not kick in as fast in the colder temps. Still blue skin?

The wolf isn't skinned out yet. Tomorrow!!
The marten are nice and so are the fox. The weasels are still way brown.
Beaver are good and so are 'rats.

Here's a better photo of the timber! It's a better one because I'm in it! I caught a second wolf today. It's a young male of the year. It was a toe catch on a slider wire.

Cool musher... on your old line?
Just stopped "rabies trapping" last week.
I did not set a trap yet for fur. Worked in the lures the past few days and also worked in the house. After many weeks and months out of town trapping, vaccinating etc... Lot of catch up to do.
Still in the house renovation big time before the snow. Think I'll be able to set my first traps for fur this week... I hope!
I'm not crazy about going trapping coyotes this year... I don't know what I will do exactly. 2 guys called for problem beavers this week-end. Think I will start with that...LoL
Good luck

Hey, I got pretty boots like them too! They're good boots but can be a little cold once the snow flies. I kind of like the way they match my neck warmer.

So what kind of trap Musher? Looks like a #3 Softcatch from here. Was that an intentional catch or incidental? (I thought you were a Jake man.)

It is a #3 softie. It's not the first wolf I've caught in them either.
The wolf was a "bonus" in a fox set! The wolf set was about 2 km.away but I guess that wolf pup wanted to see a new trail.

Evidently, you've done the impossible feat...holding a wolf with a #3 softie. I got a special kick out of that....Thanks for the pics.

yep the 3 softie 4 coiled would not be my idea of a coyote or wolf trap. If you need to run a rubber jaw try some jakes I bet they hold up to your wolves better.
LOve those shock springs they put on them nothing but a chew toy for canines LOL. The JC conner shock springs can take a ton if abuse and keep on ticking.
I understand your setting for fox and the such, but jakes would hold them well and anything else that might work your sets.
Take the pads off a 3 victor softy and a jake and see how much differance there is with metal thickness!!!!!

I have jakes. According to J.C. himself I might be the first ever to catch a wolf in a jake. They are more than excellent traps. Here's the photo. But I can't afford to run just them. Too many sets and too pricey in a rip off. There is also the fact theat th #3's are lynx approved. Jakes aren't. That sucks. To be wealthy and if the laws were normal I'd own dozens. I also have CDRs. Another great wolf trap.
