Suppose a wealthy animal lover approached you and offered to buy your trapping license from you for life.
His first offer is $1,000,000.
Would you sell it ?
Negotiate for more ? If so what's your price ?
Or flat out refuse ?

me too, I`d take it in a heartbeat, then tell the guy THANKS DUMB ASS. don`t need a lisc to trap in my state anyway. if he wanted my guns I`d say that`s 10 million, then keep some guns stashed back anyway and tell him again, THANKS DUMB ASS.

Yup sell for a million. Find a guy who used to trap but is now pretty much a talking trapper. Get him to buy my traps and tag them for say $100 and then I would take him around and I would help him set his traps. I would do the fur, he could decide the market and I could be trapping in every way but being the licensed trap owner and setter. If I live to be 85 that would still be 40 plus thousand a year I could invest and still enjoy the line, the smell of fur and helping on the line.

I asked the question because a couple wealthy antis were trying to buy out the license held by the company harvesting Cape fur seals in Namibia. Last I heard they were rejected.
But I'd say that for the majority of trappers, a check for $1,000,000 would be snatched immediately and the agreement signed.

tell them get their wallet out. I kill lots more than the averaga guy. let me sell out first. let them put their money where their mouth is. but I`m not holding my breath. only ones that would sign quicker are all the liars that say on the polls on all the sites they will trap more than ever with no market. ya, sure.

"Suppose a wealthy animal lover approached you and offered to buy your trapping license from you for life."
This does mean that you will never be able to trap again ever, correct? Also you would be selling to an anti-trapper/hunter so you would not be able to run around with him/her to help set traps and skin fur. Cause there would not be any fur to skin.

still sell. I have a family and other obligations that mean waay more to me than trapping, and that money would make their lives much easier. just common sense. and I believe trapping means as much or more to me than about anyone I ever met.

I don't think Makete would have very many Michigan trappers joining him in his refusal, I think even $100,000 would just about buy out any trapper in Mich. Jim

100,000 wouldn`t do it for me, as I can make that in a few years, or at least used to be able to. but doubt it would really take a million either. farming, hunting, fishing, roots, kids and grandkids, there is lots more to life than trapping

Yes, But i'd insist it be TAX FREE....so lets make it 1.3 Mil... Then, i'd buy a nicer, bigger place and do what I have always wanted to do... 250K should do it... ...and I'd teach my kid to trap...and run with him...

more I think about this, if anyone can muster up an offer, I can be bought out. probably cheaper than anyone would think. my dream buy out would be I trap and antis buy all my animals alive and release them. you know, pout their money where their mouth is.
