First it ain't fur trapping. You do lots more work in towns than in fields. That said contact the state Fish and Wildlife people and get the state regs that apply to ADC. If you don't have business training or management backround get some. It's the office work that will sink you. I took a mail order course from a college extension office. After that it's just nuts and bolts, learn the critters and how to deal with them.

I would think so much depends on what you want to deal with-
I deal in mammals only and no squirrles.
bats, snakes etc would be a whole nother game plan and from talking to people, exclusion work is the name of the game.
but take special permits lics, etc

Get the regs from your state DNR catchin critters anit the half of it. Doin it without catching fluffy, doing construction and getting paid is what its about with the last two being the worst part. BTW I love snakes, skunks and bats

Birds, bats and moles are big money once you get the hang of them.

I know they are Sgt- but would have to travel to get any decent money, and frankly, I just don't like town people that much-
but its where the money is for sure- and if younger, would get into it as well-
Im old and grumpy now, so can pick and choose-

what to charge is what it takes to make a profit it's diffrent for everybody you need to decide what your time is worth and sit down and figure overhead and expenses plus a profit for your business

a great start to getting into the ADC business would be joining NWCOA and reading the Wildlife Technology Magazine tons of info in there. as for charging for a standard skunk job, either a set fee, say $200.00 or a per animal fee, note i said per animal, not just skunk. I always charge a set fee that way i am guaranteed payment, not waiting for the critter to get caught. everyones different. also depending on what area you are in, wealthy, middle class, or poor determines how much you can charge. on average, a good WCO should get hired 3-4 jobs out of 10 calls. if you get all 10 calls your prices are way to low. good luck!

Just remember, if your going to try a make a living at this. Those other 6-7 jobs, could be the difference between you making it, or going back to punching a time clock. I like to keep the prices resonable, make some money. And take every call i get.
