you heard it here first-
a tip given to me by one of the trapers on here, that preferrs to remain annoymous.....
that new non toxic to pets antifreeze?
works perfect as trap antifreeze- works same as poly glycol at 1/2 or less the price-
even has an anti rust ingriedient-
I can report no digging, and it works

So does this have a brand name ?what Is the cost and have you actually used It? Inquiring minds would like to know. Do you cut It with water?

I would guess it doesn't matter what brand- at least brand was never mentioned- not sure what brand I used- whatever was on the shelve at Walmart
yes, actually used it-
no- added 1/4 coyote urine

And you sprayed coyote urine added to glycol on your sets for freeze proofing?

yup- worked very well-
if you are balking at using coyote urine, I spray urine at every remake- with great results

Just clearing up the clouds in my head...
You spray the antifreeze/urine mix on the sifted dirt that is over the trap?

So what the heck is it??

use it just like regular gylcol-
if you do it on a set and bedded trap- you really have to soak the area- so its puddles down deep-
better to rebuild a set using it-
its just the new antifreeze- the old stuff was toxic, but this new stuff is not- the old stuff really smelled, the new does not
wonder if anyone ever tried wiper fluid- the anti icer kind- that seems odorless as well

You only mention using this at remakes. Would you still want to cut it with coyote urine when making new sets? Would you then cut it with water or just use 100%?

I will stick with wax dirt for now. My first tear using it and I wonder how I ever got by without. It seems like the only thing that will mess it up is freezing rain, ice. Then all you have to do is peel it off. It rained about 1/2" other day, heavy at times. the set looked like soupy mud on top but was like dust underneith. I dont think I'll ever do without again.

without a doubt, I think wax dirt is the way to go- or only trapping sunny days-
but this is an antifreeze thread concerning a type of antifreeze that some, such as myself, were unaware of-
no, isn't wiper fliud- it antifreeze for the radiator-
the old kind had odor and was toxic-
the new kind is odorless and non toxic-
fresh sets in the ground and remadesets get treated the same- well, already set up remakes- spray until saturated over the set- make sure to extend the spray pattern-
if making a fresah set or building a remake- I do it like stef told me years ago- spray the bed, the spray the trap, then spray each step as you add dirt-
as far as urine use, I use it liberally- A good spray where I want it- using on the top lip of the hole or at the base of the backing- but more and more, I'll give the entire apttern area, set making area a brief misting-
for sure it doesn't hurt anything, and I'm semi convinced it helps- in other wrods- I KNOW it helps on my remakes, proven it to myself so many times its now a given- so if it helps on remakes why not fresh?

Coonduke , that stuff says works best above 20 degrees....I am thinking if it not as good below maybe it would work here but in places that get cold and stay cold like many areas of west not such a good product. Here it gets 10-20 at nite then warms to 30+ during the day seldom lasting below freezing for several days at a time.... but worth a try for western guys too.

From the analysis I understand with regards to its cautions and hazards one must read the key words in the language describing the product. The key words used regarding this product are it is "less toxic and safer "for children and pets.No mention of non toxic. Two ounces of the old anti freeze will kill a dog by test standards and 6ozs. of sierra antifreeze will kill a dog? They dont specifically state the toxicity levels of this product so I would stay with regular proplyene glycol that we know is safe for us and animals. For a few dollars more I think that is a better choice.
For the amount that the avg. trapper uses for anti freeze purposes a gal would serve most as more then enough.for a season with a 50/50 mix ratio. That works out to 2 gal at about $10.00 a gal of finished product.

I think from reading the website- is that they are unsure of how toxic Poly Glycol is to pets and children-
a gal of poly lasts me a day- and thats being stingy- on 90 or so sets
50/50 doesn't come close to working for me, if you mean mixing 50/50 with water-
