Actually Beav, it's diluted asphalt foundation sealer. Any Home Depot, or Lowes sells it by the gallon or 5 gal. pail. Mix it to the dilution you want with paint thinner and you got "trap dip", but at 1/10th the price. Use it to dip your rusty chains, stiffen up rope, or to dye netting. I even use it as a all purpose stain and wood preservative. Doesn't make a good dessert topping though.

I've always wondered what speed dip was made out of. Some very perceptive trappers on here.

I certain trapper put me on to This. I get this Memphis Net and Twine catalog. And In this catalog they advertise this latex net dip and the asphalt net dip. I asked a question of a commercial fisherman and he said It's sold under different names In the trapping Industry. Never In my wildest dreams could I see these trap dealers sitting down and formulating these dips from scratch.

Which ever way you decide to dip, I would recommend that you wear old paints, old shirt, old boots and some chemical gloves from a farm store when you do your dipping. It can get a little messy at times. I did speed dip a few traps the other day and used gasoline and they dried really fast. Coleman fuel is $7.99/qt in the stores here.

I heard that speed dip is foundation sealer for what it's worth, I don't run a big yote line and I catch as many either way so I just speed dip in the summer.
