I've never seen one yet. And I don't really care to buy one just to see it. One local guy tells me that they are simply a chunk of rebar with a chain link and #9 wire welded on. That once pounded in the rebar will stick out of the ground by a foot or something and #9 wire from there up. Also that the chain link is very heavy with rebar run through it then welded.
Is this an accurate description?
I'm puzzled cuz someone else told me that they were simply a 3 foot piece of rebar with #9 wire welded to the top.
Which is it?

Sounds like a lot of extra weight to me.

Ya you can make them of lighter material or just buy them from Robert.

I saw one the other day that had a hole drilled into the re-rod about an inch from the end that would accomodate the #9 support wire. the support wire was stuck through the hole and then wrapped around the re-rod a couple times and there was your snare support. HP

Why use re bar if your just using It to hang snares? Now If your useing the re bar as a stake and kill pole and a snare suport device then I can see using It.

if these are what I used at Jeffs- I used the rebar as the stake also.

No you used a modified devils hat pin.
washer welded to top of hat pin to serve as stake for snare also.
the support wire on the new hat pins i got though are WAY to brittle.
I broke alot of them.
Not like the other hat pins i got but now i think those may have been knockoffs.

You guys want the best snare support on the market contact Rich Kasper. He makes and sells the supports that I designed several years ago. They are way ahead of the DHPs.

BadDog, I haven't learned to post pictures yet. I am sure some of the other guys on here can do it for you. Talk to Freak, Coyote Whisperer or Marky Mark, they all have some of them and should be able to post a picture for you.

Here's a pic of waddells supports made by RK now. I really like them on my coon line and cat line where i can tie off to a tree. For open pasture snaring i still like the hat pin design because there are no trees for miles and i use the support as a stake for the snare also. Never even had a deer budge one. Jeff

It does not come complete with the truck bed! LOL! At least not without additional negotiating with Rich Kasper!

The MSS are a less effective knock off of the Generation 1 of Doug's. I've not seen a possible second version/Gen2 of the MSS, like Doug did with the Gen 2 of the DHP, that included rebar.
IMHO, the MSS don't have near the verticle support as the DHP, similar bends, but of lighter material.
I don't have any MSS here.

I bought some last year and turned around and sold them--nothin' special at all. They are simply 15 or 18" of 3/8 rebar with a 36" piece of #9 welded on the side and about 1-1/2" down from the top. That's it-no chain link or anything else.

Guys, The one pictured is the best there is, bar none. Rich should have these in a 12 1/2 gauge support wire besides the #9 (as pictured).

I also make another one for frozen ground that has a ring shank nail/gutter spike at botton instead of the plate antispin that Robert orgininally used. the upright is bent so nail is offset about 2" for easyer pounding in. In frozen ground its just enough to keep from spinning, as 3/16 upright and nail are welded together parallel. In normal ground conditions Roberts original style wont spin in unfrozen ground. Im pretty much going to make both style with no 9 wire this year.

The more I think about it.........I believe SRC is correct, the MSS is rebar n #9.......similar bends as Doug's Gen 1 DHP, but lacks the vertical support.

Hope you all don't get the wrong idea here, I was not interested in trying out the O'Gorman support, just trying to get it straight as to what it was.
