fws ... I made these drags based on what was currently being sold that I was aware of so that I wouldnt get a copy cat label..... but it is bound to happen to a good thing...just when you think youve found out enough you find you really only scratched the surface...lots of good ideas that never make production...
heck I even make double stake rings....sell the crap outta them..lol

You'll still get the label from someone who had the same idea........
This sh!t ain't rocket since, give 100 guys a pile of steel and a shop and there's gonna be some that are damn close to each other.
My cat/fox cages are unique, don't see any really like them either made commercially or the other self designed and made ones we see pictured. Doesn't mean someone else hasn't but I've not seen it.
And I'd bet that about 98% of the cat cages in use are made by the guys who use em'.

If you look at all the drags on the market these days, and there are a lot, I think a guy could design and build a heck of a good drag w/o looking at someone elses, and end up making one very similar to an existing drag when you wherent even trying to copy one. Just so many similar drags around these days.

TRUE...however the LARGEST % turn out marginal at best and NOT sutible for larger furbearers.. I know PERSONALLY that mine will hold lions up VERY close to the 200lb range with OUT issue one. THAT is HOW I built them... ANYTHING I hook, the drag is capable of holding. lynx

I don't know how long JC has been making those ship anchor drags but I saw one like that in the late 70's.
Whoever started those drags obviously copied the idea from a ship anchor.
I'm kind of in agreement with FWS about the proprietary attitude on drags. There are only so many ways to make one.
I've started some things that as far as I know I was first. Probably wasn't but as far as I know I was.

There are alot of two legged, upright walking creatures out there in the world doing alot of things. It seems to me it would be pretty hard to know who did what first or saw it first or made one like it. I don't really see what differance it makes. If it works for you use it.
