I think, with the waxed sand, the sand granuals get coated on the outside of the granuals whereas the waxed dirt, the wax soaks into the organic material. The waxed sand is probably heavier but you probably use less wax. HP

Stef and I chatted back and forth on this quite a bit........sand does use less wax.....beds a trap like a million dollars! Just weighs lots more......
I'll make some more WS for local use, but for trips away, I'll use WD for weight reasons.

Last year i was able to buy wax @ hobbylobby.com for $1.00 per pound, this year i had to give $1.29 a pound. & they pay the freight. I'm not sure how much you have to buy to get free freight, but i order 100 pounds @ a time & get free shipping. I was thinking if you ordered 40 pounds or more you get free shipping...

They sell it by the pound or in the 10 pound block. I simply melt it down & dump it in with my hot dirt. Works well.
