I have an opportunity to go to Miss, and may consider it.
How's the fur down there? Is it worth it?
thanks

I would hesitate to believe you are going to find many beaver, the drought has been exceptionally hard on beaver populations.

Basically the only "money" animals in Mississippi are live coyotes and grey fox. I would definitely find a market for the live coytoes prior to going to Mississippi. The grey fox are few and far between in a lot of areas, do not count on landing in a large concentration of greys.
Coon meat sales are good "if" you will deal with the local residents, especially just prior to Super Bowl Sunday. Do NOT hold your coon meat until the end of February and then try to sell it..It is hard to move coon meat the end of the month with the current regulations concerning possesion dates.

Catpaw, if you are refering to selling MS caught coyote or fox in those states there are regs regarding transporting these animals outside of MS , I would check with state game and fish and read up on the regs.

Almost forgot,
Fur quality is poor, the people are rude, the bugs are thick, the snakes thick, it is always hot and muggy, I do not think it is worth your time and travel.

Just trying to be a good neighbor, hate for a fellow to drive all the way down here and waste his time.
In fact might as well just tell me where you are going to trap, I will call them and save your time and money.
Anything to help
Seriously please check into the live market and transportation regulations before making solid commitments.

You CAN"T ship live coyotes or fox out of MS. I hold a licensee for both NC and SC I stay In SC I can't even carry a live animal across the SC border from NC I have to keep them In NC and sell them there. Well I know over the past 10 years I have averaged around $17.00 for South Carolina beaver I don't know about MS beaver. The meat market Is tough to get Into but you just might get lucky but it will take some home work.

Bob, glad you remembered that story It was funnier being there though. Shame those hen of the woods will not grow here
Beav is right the state is serious on this issue.
I was not serious concerning the people we all have the rude bunch but on the average MS people are very hospitable. If any of you make it down this way and need assistance please PM me and I will give you a contact number.
