No, thats not what was meant, what was meant was if trapping was not outlawed period one day, that if in years to come we still had a foothold on trapping [get it foothold, lol] and are still allowed that god given fredom, i do not want steel traps outlawed there is just something satisfing about steel traps that snares and cage traps just cant match[whose side im on] that hurts ,you just cut me to the bone, not realy im thick skinned, but you talk about bmps well which could be good I guess ,some states have already outlawed steel traps like california for one, and is it mass that oulawed them to? I havent accepted that steel traps will be outlawed just going off what has already happened.thanks.

I recently had yotes in a duke softy a montana softy a montana tricked out and a kb that I laminated. I have also used the #2 bmi softy and 1 1/2 softie w #2 springs. In my conditions I found that I will get the same amount of swelling in any of the combo I mentioned.I feel no matter what trap you use you will get a few animals will fight more and get foot dammage no matter what.I do trap for the live market and I am always looking the the perfect trap. I just feel it is not 100% 100% of the time. I feel that baseplates short cain and offsets w/double lams will not let the animal move too far to fight. I have also learned that in some places dragging will get him to cover where he will relax and not fight so much BUT if they have to pull the drag a good distance before it hooks you will get more than average damage. I have a cat jaw trap that I will be trying now but I feel I already know of the out come.

I agree with you nothing is ever going to be to overly common with every animal you catch so that leads to no perfect trap ,but maybe a better design will help.
