I think a lot of it comes down to nomencature. I personally think people spend too much time tinkering with traps- if it ain't broke, don't fix it. but thats me, I know. I just played with a few of my traps- and false drop with a shortnotch? Still don't see it. I usually have a trap or two of mine at a convention- Someone will have to show me what you mean. Bolt tighted so pan is a little stiff- short notch- and its crisp clean and immediate. Whats there to fix?

I usually have a trap or two of mine at a convention- Someone will have to show me what you mean. I'll show you next year at PA. I am not saying that a nightlatched trap will put more canines in the end of the season catch pic...I am saying that the mechanics of the short notch and nightlatch are different. I like the nightlatch system because I like to bed the trap on a high pan...and that is the #1 reason I use it.

My deep notches work like WB said when they are set full in and adjusted out for a short throw. That way I don't slip and get a 4coil 1.75 on my thumb and have to yell in a culvert so the whole world can know I'm in there. I figure everybody elses way works fine or we wouldn't have a whole lot to talk about on here. ;D
