Roberts tip about digging toe holds in bank is a good one, saves much time sliding up and down bank. Ive got an old ladder stashed at one steep bank that really saves I disagree....

rk- had a steep one once where I tied a stout rope with handholds- I thought I was really clever... sure saved aggravation and time.

Good fast anchoring systems are high on my list. I try to locate in advance all the good parking and access points to most efficiently work each area and in case there is a problem like new highway or bridge construction etc. Using a map service can really help to find the best way to work an area. Aerial photos with corresponding topos make scouting larger areas a lot easier and more productive for me. Here is the one I'm using www.mapcard.com

Drive in the dark.
Work your butt off all day.
Drive back home in the dark.
Drink Red Bull to get home.
