went out and checked...neither washtub has any measurements on it...

What you need to do if the tub is not marked, see how many 12 quart buckets it would take to fill the tub void of traps. BTW, how many traps (1 1/2 coils) can you do at one clip, in your washtub?

yeah- I'll do that NL...I got nothin' better to do.
for heavens sakes- are tere realy than many sizes of washtubs? There has to be a standard size...everyone I have ever seen is the saqme.
# of traps-....4 doz or so I am guessing.
I dump a couple of buckets hot water in tub, give it a good "glug" of bleach, shot of soap- put in the traps.

I wanna know what a "glug" is. DJ used that term with me when telling me how much bleach he puts in with our white washables. A glug? Hmmmm, what the HECK is a glug? So now I put in a "big glug" but I still have no idea what a glug is so I might be putting too much in (or too little).
Steve, when you get done measuring out how much your washtub holds, please measure out one glug and tell me what it is. THANKS A BUNCH!!!

I tried Hal's method last year, boiled with a big handful of dishwasher detergent, worked real well. A big handful is the dry equivalent of a glug.,lol

Woody....I have small hands too, so I would use a heaping handful, that should equal about a handful if ones hands are big. I thought everyone knew what a glug was. T-man.......I have three wash tubs, and they are all different sizes. I have two round ones (a big un, and a small one) and a square one. That is why your measurement will be so important to me.

Round? Those are washbuckets.....LOL
like Edge says barrels or half barrels, etc
Seriously, only the square ones are called washtubs around here.
The MN standard washtub size: 20 X 20 X 11

20 x 20 x 11? I assume you mean inches. In Pennsylvania that would be considered a bucket. This weekend I will take the time to measure my tubs and get back to you.

Ninny, judging by the size of his washtub and the "real " washtubs, you will have to about triple the recipe for a large washtub. I used to be able to hold 4000 crayfish in a large washtub if holes were poked in the bottom to let all the water drain. ;D You small size washtub is really nothing more than a large round bucket

Well, sure INCHES would be a bucket.... I guess its like snow NL- the Eskimos have 1000 words for snow, the Amish must have a 1000 for buckets...
