CoyoteDuke...I've been real happy with the Berkshire Double Couplers. You could attach them with a swivel, but I just use a J- hook. I'm not too concerned about the swivel action down in the trap bed- thats the first thing to clog up antway. I'm not real sure how I'm going to attach them next year- somehow get a quick link in them.
1 downfall- if you single stake using them- they give an odd action. A swivel rather than a J-hook would solve that problem I think.
All in all- I recommend them.

Steve, The Berkshires give a pretty good swiveling point. Even though it is the first to bind up, I like to have swiveling at the anchoring point.

Well boys, I for one am a free thinker! BUT! When a man like JC Conners says use 18 to 20 inches of chain, lots of swivels, and a shock spring, I reckon till someone shows me different I'll stick with that!

If swivels were made properly they wouldn't get bound up so easily. Actually it's not the swivel, it's the rivets. Too close to the swivel body. The only great swivel is the Sterling. Terry I'm not a big # guy on canines, but I agree with Terry. I run short chains, about 12". I make my own rivets out of 20penny common spikes. I make them so the shank of the rivet is around an 1' long. I don't have any problem with grass fouling up the swivels. I will get alot of grass build up on the chain, but the swivels still swivel. Also, I use 3 swivels per chain. For the double staking rig, I use 2 5/8" flat washers, 2 20 penny spikes and 2 links of chain. Only take a minute to make them and they are cheap to make too. I can't take credit for this though, I was shown this by a good friend. Scrapper
