only the best man. old extension cord on one side and zip ties for the one that droops so you can adjust it. The hogs are an absolute rush if you stalk, but they are impossible to exterminate once they reach your area. I'll still try my hardest

How would you recommend calling when you encounter both fox and coyote in the area? I assume that the fox will shy away from howls, but the land is spread out enough that rabbit in distress doesn't seem to have enough range. Also how close would you set up to a known den area? Can they be drawn from a great distance or do you have to try to be within a couple hundred yards?

Jason I will help you on the calling if you can help me on the trappin. Sense Deer hunting has been done I have Killed 10 yotes. Only 2 from running the dogs and 8 from the calling, along with 2 Fox. Out of the 8 killed the longest shot was 185 yards the closes was 32 yeards, good shotgun range on that one. Just let me know if you want some help.

springer78 I was out, on wed. near a pheasent farm and spotted a Fox working a fense line. As I watch him he was got scared and jump like 5 feet in the air, well a coyote was playing ambush on him, and the chase was on. It was pretty funny because the fox made that coyote look stupid in his movement, and fell 2 times as he got close to bitting the fox, because the fox was fast on his turns, and slipped the yote up. But i turned and went back that evening and use my e-caller with a fox fight and I use my rabbit mouth call. The coyote came in hard, from 300 yards, and died just as fast. Fox are not real happy about the howling if that is what your planning on calling in. It does get the fox moving to spot them and get around in front and set up to call because the fox that was showing up the coyote the day before was taking from that type of set up. As for the den ? I have only called 1 coyote out of a den, but never took a shot. Ethier the coyote was not that hungry to commit and come in or know something was up. 2 coyotes and 6 fox have been taken very close to the pheasent farm, using some different calling

You won't find coyotes in the winter using a tradional "den", they use them for pup rearing and you can call them from the den durring the summer real well!

I went out and bought a new calling system. I was looking for the new FoxPro Fury but Cabela's in Owatonna didn't have them on stock let. So I checked out the New Western Rivers Nite Stalker. the call has great reviews and has very, very, clear sounds The Nite Stalker is the one of the most advanced MP3 game callers in the industry. It combines maximum sound transmission with a 2GB memory capacity, something never before offered in a game caller. The Western Rivers Mark IV sound library is so extensive it includes sounds for all species of wild game - 400 in all. The insta-scan sound feature allows you to recall ten sounds at a time and view five sounds on the LCD screen to choose your calling selection. The caller and the remote both have large 128 x 64 high-resolution illuminated LCDs for pre-dawn and nighttime use. Two hi-fi horn speakers boost the volume for long-range performance. The select-a-speaker design offers the option of playing the caller with one or both speakers at the same time. Speakers can be controlled using an ergonomic remote control. This unit will operate 10-12 hours on eight AA batteries. It's built to last with an undercut lip to make the unit stronger and waterproof. The large key pads on the main unit glow in the dark. Plays both MP3 and WAV sound recordings. Comes with a hard carry/storage case, 2 GB storage, dual hi-fi horn selectable speakers, uplink port, extended-range remote control, complete Mark IV sound library and instructions. Manufacturer's lifetime warranty.

trappnman you are correct they are from a post last year. Using the rite rounds that they do not give very much fur damage, and sleeping out in the field
springer78 I think you still have a E-caller that you and JJ bought together. If your not using it then let him know cause he wants to use it. What mouth calls are you using? To me if you do not make calls yourself, its not your own sounds that your fooling them with. If your taking about how you call them, like your different calling sequence's, then I understand. The mouth calls I use are Randy Anderson style, and the work great. They do make a difference, for calling, its nice sneaking it on a yote or fox and not having to carry extra equipment, to call
I was out there yesterday by the pheasent farm and there was a female laying between the pines and the barns. 2 guys walked her out cause the calling was just not intresting her. There was a Couple guys out in the field at pauls, and watch for a little bit, don't know if they were planting birds or not, but they missed the scene of her getting taken. I went out and bought them Varmint Granade ammo, 36 grns. and I am hooked on there preformance. Small hole entering the fox and only a big bruise on the exiting side, with no exit. The pelt was awesome.

No they are getting harvested as well, infact 2 were taken yesterday out of a area you trap in. The farmer said you usually trap allot of them, but did not get any this year out there. Spotted a singal out in the field, and it just mosey on down in a wooded raven, so i got some folks together and surrounded the area. Well there were 2 yotes running together the first one was just never seen. They tried sneaking out west across the field towards county rd 4 but the guys went around and spooked them back. Well I was waiting in there path as the came back across the area that they thought was safe that they traveled, to get into the raven.

so how much are you selling those late season coyotes for?

Post by yoteler on Feb 4, 2009 9:28:19 GMT -6
I have not sold any of the hides this year, cause I heard they are not getting very much. I heard from one guy that he had taken a very nice ( size and color) male Red and he was only going to get $17. He said the hell with that and kept it. All the hides so far I have sent off to get fleshed and soft tanned. That is not cheap

skined out is green-
whoever this guy is, he never got $17 for a red coyote in his life, green or put up- unless selling direct to a specilty market-
if hes that concerned about prices, he should learn put up
