Working on a deal with a huge timber company here in my area. They are wanting me to get my NWCO license and trap mountain beaver for them. I trapp their lands for cats and a few other animals. They asked if I would be interested in traping for them for mountain beavers. What is the going rates for this? Do I charge a set up fee and then an animal catch price? Any help would be greatly appretiated. This can help me pay for fuel while running the cat line and also give me free bait )

I don't know about out in your part of the country but around they get a set fee then a per animal fee but I sure wouldn't venture to tell you what it is.

Per animal brings more drawbacks though. "IF" they have enoguh work to keep you busy all day quote them a daily rate.

First time I saw this but I'll jump in even if a little late. I've talked to guys that trap mountain beaver and some work by the hour, some by the head and some by the acre. By the hour seems to be pretty low pay. I've never done it so I won't tell you what's best but I've never heard of set up fees in mountain beaver work.

Might want to ask them what amounts of insurance your going to have to carry to work for them...the start up for carrying 1 or 2 million can get expensive
