Maybe us down here in the lower 48 dont catch mink in trees because we dont set traps in trees ie no marten or fisher seasons. Anybody have a good, easy tree set for weasel?

treeing mink with dogs used to bea sport- in fact, its now illegal to hunt mink with dogs in MN, so it must have been fairly effective.
I have no doubt that during the year- with little critters, nestlings- mink hunt in trees.

I have caught most of my mink at these rock cubbies or whatever pocket set I could dig. I don't do much mink trapping, but I think the reason it was easy at these particular sets was the mink were right there according to the sign they left. I have lots of mink here, it is the other reliable furbearer like the red fox is. Last season I set up a rock cubby below the mink poop rock. I caught a buck mink the first night. I reset the trap and squirted some more fish oil in the cubby. I had another buck mink the next morning. A few weeks later the trap was fired and I smelled mink musk, almost scored a 3rd time there. Then the stupid PA season closed early as usual, so that was the end of that. I also caught 2 mink 2 nights in a row upstream from this spot a few years back. Now the rock overlooking the 1 set area has been having mink poop on it consistantly, so thats where I set now. I have also caught mink at blind set footholds and conis. To me mink are easy to catch in the right sets, but they have to be there and you have to pray they aren't too fleet footed.
If I had few mink I would not say catching them can be easy. I say catching a coyote is hard for me as they just aren't here in #'s. Call me inexperienced or whatever, but I HAVE caught mink in rock cubbies and it was pretty easy IMHO.
Weather permitting, sunday I will be setting that rock cubby up that is by the mink poop rock. On the 15th, again weather permitting, that creek I have that is always full of mink tracks is getting set up. I have 2 other places to set for mink, haven't scouted either, 1 is in an otter/beaver/rat location, the other is beaver and muskrat grand central from what I have been told. These last 3 spots are in MD, which has a long mink/rat season ( goes to march 15). I sent a roadkill prime leathered march male mink to the furbuyer last year, he gave same price as a late nov prime leathered male mink of same size. I'd swear that march mink was springy looking.
