Gerald – On pockets, is location/sign that critical, or do you pick them because of bank slope/constriction or drowning depth? Slam and go, or pick just the right spot for the pockets?
I was talking to Beav last night and told him he needed to weigh in on some mink trapping. He has, however, slipped to coon and politics.

Fishadict, on set location I just look for a good spot to make a couple of pockets as close to the truck as possible. On most creeks or streams I think you can catch a mink almost anywhere you want.
I don't look for sign except if I am targeting raccoons also I will set the specific spot where the raccons are most active in the water. Obviously if someone else has traps in the water, it will will make a difference where I make my sets. As will the weather conditions, using the sun angle to keep sets open a little longer.
I guess slam and go would be the answer.

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank Gerald for an excellent Mink video. I actually caught Mink on purpose last year by using your techniques and exceeded my goal by one. (It was 5 and I caught 6. hehehe), but it's a start. Thanks again Gerald for some great info.
