i can tell you that a specific location type that i use for canines regularly produce mink in my sets but it the location- have seen dozens and dozens of mink over the years so far from water and so high in elevation it would make a mink trappers head spin -but do agree with steve that big old buck minks get pushed to water when the snow gets to deep and i believe the running water is higher in temperature at times than out side air temps with wind chill-thus easier to maintain body temps
