I try to set them up after a prolonged cold spell that holes up the coon. Dont mess with them much in Nov unless i can use a big double ended tube of sorts, and only do that when no drowning options. I can get 4-6 coons out of one of these where I could get 6-10 out of legholds. Ive seen them go completely nuts after a good cold snap and have a %40 run on them, next year same deal, think they are gonna work great and temp climbs and back down to 10% or less catch rate. Ive kinda given up on figuring it out. Foxtil has a good point on their use as trash reducers. On a long tern cat set that will be in ground for a month, i dont mind throwing out a box each side of my cat sets at times to keep the trash out and open for a cat. Every now and then I even get a coon. I am begining to wonder if a nateral wooden box with no floor in it might be worth a try. When I find that no-fail super sucessful 220 cubby that works as effective as a leghold set, Ill be sure to give all my friends here first chance at buying the method from me, LOL.
