you are talking 2 different things here bk- visuals and luring.
A visual doesn't have ot be huge to work- it has to just be .....visual.

I always viewed it as one big stinking visual Steve. ;D

(little icon of smilies tearing hair out) BK- you asked a question- hypothetical perhaps but a question... "did you perhaps go overboard" and I respond maybe so.... twanting to make the point that while a huge visual works- I've used small logs and round bales as attraction points- all a visual has to do, is be visible.
I doesn't want to argue with you...

Nor do I have any desire to argue Steve,....... it was my failed attempt at early morning humor.

I was emptying my kids sandbox today and all that pretty white sand got me to thinking.
Since we, in PA, are not allowed to use cow bones etc, would the white sand in a pile be a good visual.
I know that later on in the snowy season it would be very conter-productive, but during the early season it would show up very well.
It would also not be a good thing during a rainy season.
Heck I'm starting to talk myself out of the idea.
I know from just watching the family dog that he runs to it to see what it is.
I would think that a coyote would react, not the same by running up to it, generally the same way.

I use a small piece of fake fur suspended on a fishing swivel for cats. Coyotes always come around. Some even get caught.
I'd use the electronics with a daytime shutoff solar eye in your situation.

MN is really liberal in a lot of trapping laws- but no electronics allowed. I'd love to experiment with them on coyotes.

I think 17KISS plays around with squeakers, or atleast was looking into it.

I used 20 of the furfindr squeakers last season. Caught one or more cats at every location.
I had three sets in a sand dune area around one. I couldn't believe the coyote tracks in the sand for about 1/2 acre. Looked like a pack came in. I caught a big old dog. He might have helped with the hyperactivity.
One morning I was waiting for daylght on the side of the road and some callers drove up. Every minute or two the squeaker would go off up on the hill. Their window was facing away from the sound. They'd cock their head everytime it went off. I didn't tell them what it was because I probably had screwed up their calling in that area. Ha!!
