So, when you ask does it "add canines", you mean on that particular farm's total and not to your overall catch?
yes. would you catch the same leaving traps for 1 month- or more by running a week, pulling for 3, running a week...
I think its a wash.....
lots of variables to consider..... as long as the area gets farm traffic ( feeding cows, spreading manure, the zillon other reasons farmers have to drive all over)...daily drive bny checks shouldn't hurt...
how about if you run, pull, etc....perhaps you are just off patterns...or on travel lanes- you are missing the travelers....
What I do is this- I have my middle of my line that is set up from 2-6 weeks....I also have eastern loop that I run for 2-3 weeks, and then a western loop is put up that I also run for 2-3. I strongly prefer to be on a location for 2 weeks- I find for me, in a normal year.....2 weeks is a bout right...get the coon, get the incidentals out of the way, get the yotes and get the fox.

Gotta chime in here.
If I had enough traps and the farms were convenient to check I would leave them, but if I have no action for a few (3) days and it is out of the way i will pull that farm and move to a new location. It is amazing how tman and others pick up 10 or more canines from a location over a 3 or 4 week period. It just don't happen to me. Maybe I am not that good, I really don't know.
I had a farm set up for three weeks and got 2 grey, one red and four coyote. Three of the coyote were in the same set with the same trap. I had no action for three days on that farm so I pulled it with the intention of going back in three weeks.
Those traps are cleaned and in the ground elsewhere. I don't have a set schedule, I just play it by my gut: right or wrong. If i feel they need some time, I'll pull and go somewhere else.
On another farm close by that I can do a drive-by I am leaving them in for the duration. I got one coyote and it went south for a while. Two weeks later I got a red, next day a grey and the next a coyote. Go figure.
Like I said, easy check: they stay in, play my gut. I don't like checking empty traps either, Bob, but sometimes it is worth it to leave the easy ones in.
