It is all about supply and demand. If the market is strong, with good demand for volume ie numbers you will do ok with weaker goods. If the market is weak you will end up with lower prices and less or weaker buying. I would say that the way the coyote market finished off this year most country buyers are going to take a very caution apporach to coyote this coming season. When the market is falling you will see in a season weaker prices for well seasoned prime goods. Whereas someone who trapped early and sold early will be quite happy with their prices. I have had this happen to me when selling prime dec caught marten and average 10.00 a skin less them my friend who started trapping in late Oct. In a strong market everybody will do ok, the same as in a rising market. When you have a falling market this is a tough one. The only sure fire way that I have found is to trap and sell as I go in the long run over time you will do ok. Cheers Jim

I think that its the best advise. I know trappnman for a few season now and that's what he always do and I'm always surprised of his results. But my problem is that there's no way I can get ready all my early fur catch before December auction other than having help. Found 2 places recently where buyers could buy coon and beavers on the grease. If prices are ok, maybe selling my coon and beaver to them on the grease could help me preparing my other stuff and I 'll be able to sell them when its the time to sell them. We'll see Stef

Sell your smaller size animals early and save your larger more heavy fur for next sale. I always sell my fox, mink, and small beaver in Dec. But like you Stef never have enough time to do up everything even with my dad helping me skin. Better to keep trapping then to stop and put up fur. You cannot sell what you have not caught. Cheers Jim

Gibb and Stef I'm glad some else is "pinched" for time. I teach and coach for a living and the early am stuff and late night check and skinning takes its toll come Jan. I've got three freezers also ...need five lol

MChewk, the real problem starts once the freezers are full, I find that I tend to procrastinate and have to really push myself to finish off the skinning. Cheers Jim

Steve I've found it doesn't pay to sell early ...like first time fur truck shows up. Buyer really knocks you then. I like to skin freeze and then wait til freezers are packed and I'm beat ...that cash can really fire a guy up and relax the wife a bit, as she sees the work is worth it.

I sell all my coon as soon as the second freezer Is full. It has alway's paid me to sell coon early.

let me clarify early-
I don't mean in the door first...I meant don't sell your early fur, late.
I'm like beav- when the freezer is full, I sell. Usually around Nov 10 or so.
Don't hold an early collection until late- as the early fur has lost any of its advantage when better stuff is available.

Yes,I am under the impression that it has been open for a few days now. I dont know why,but I am sure there was no logic or experience involved in the decision making process.
