I'm still not buying it.......... So! How do you know if the animal will commit with 1 step? A raking action across the pan? You nail him by both front feet? A backfoot catch? A crawler? An elbow catch (modified equipment)? Wait a minute......Is that Zaggar doing his Gappa imitation on where that coyotes gonna step 25 yds from the set? Trap sets in ground for a week maybe more and "sets up" Expansion/contraction. Tensions change Steveo.............. ! Cold weather and delayed traps firing (It happens)? Bedding material? Rain? Mud? Snow? Must I keep going? Zz!

"must I keep going?"
I guess so- don't really know what you are disagreeing with.
that dirt changes tension? I agree
that bigger traps can take more dirt? I agree
That traps set up? I agree
That a low tension gives a different foot position than a tight tension? normally, I agree
My only statements were 1) I didn't have excessive damage with #2 Bridgers on a 24 hour check on fox and
2) that more dirt over the pan will give a "lower" foot catch....and thats just mechanical physics

DJ88.. I also had two coyotes pull out of my 1.5s, in Febuary, so I decided to buy some #2. Then added the new springs to the 1-1/2. Hopefully they hold.

mt, I hope you base plated them at least, mine were bent to hell and the jaws were popped. I didn't even bother fixing them, all of my 1.5 cs have been retired to water duty for coon, mink and muskrat now.

An inch of dirt over the trap will take a fox by the pad! Yup sure will........Sometimes! Other times? Zz!

Z, if I want to use my new Montanas early, I am going to have to bury them a little deeper to avoid the high catches, originally I was just getting these to use on yotes and late season fox. Terry explained the deeper burial as an alternative to high catches. Was the Pocono Puppy Pounder wrong, or are you just saying that it isn't 100% always going to result in a pad catch?

I would have to agree with that, there isn't much of anything I can say is 100% in the trapping field, 1 that comes to mind though...If Z catches a yote, he is gonna KILL IT!!!! LMAO!!
