any good canine call or food lure works well. Set near the dens or diggings. Never tried a cage trap so can't help you there.

if your thinking about taking him out alive...you will need a HEAVY DUTY cage trap and i mean HEAVY DUTY..330 coni works good in trail !!!!!

Yea...LOTS of luck on a cage trap...ESPECIALLY a comercially made one...he'll wad it up into a ball and throw it at you!!! I trap them IN their hole....no tearup damage...(minimal) and usually have them in the am.. later lynx

lynx- to you actually set IN the hole- or outside the entrance?
I like ot set abouit 2 feet outside the hole in the "tunnel" making it even more pronounced,. this keeps the badgers out of the hole.
Used to set right in the entrance- but got tired of digging out trapped badgers.

I`ve taken many badgers alive and contrary to what folks are telling you, they do not fight a cage trap at all. a coon is 10 times worse. whats more, even aged adult badgers tame down super fast, not "pet" tame, but they accept captivity easily and will eat a rabbit leg out of your hand with in 48 hrs from capture. they get a bad rap as they are very strong and dig like the dickens when in a foot trtap, but flat out do not fight a cage at all. serious as a heart attack here. hundreds to my credit over the years, no problems. they like skunky lure or anything stinky, easy.

Ditto on what Bob said. Only problem i have is badger if not in a welping den ect they are on the move and i find all i get is set up fee as badger has moved on to an area he isnt bothering people with digging holes in lawns after ground squirrels ect. . Never had a badger wreck or damage a cage trap. They do become docile when caged for awhile. I found that out as a kid when i put one in cage when i was in grade school. I got tired of feeding the fellow so let him go.... Wisconsin.....LOL
